Held at Lakes of Taylor on Saturday, October 14, 2006
It was a cloudy, cold day of 46 degrees, winds of 23 mph and gusts of 30 mph, but all participants were great sports. Most commented that it's just the challenge of the elements that makes golf such an interesting game. They played on aerated greens that only had a week to heal, and with uncooperative weather... not much healing happened. All of that said, there were still some impressive scores.
We had 15 teams participate; one withdrew after 8 holes. So fourteen teams finished the tournament.
Our grand total for the purse was $2250, and we pay out to the top 6 teams:
1st Place: $787.50
Todd Szalay, John Saffrin & Pete Harrison
score 61, 11 under par
2nd Place: $540
Chris King, Jason Weldy & Dennis Kubit
score 63, 9 under par
3rd Place: $405
Ron Suemnick, Lonnie Fater & Tim Addis
score 64, 8 under par
4th Place: $225
Gary J. Gigdea, Tom Bieglicki & Vinny Burbank
score 64, 8 under par
5th Place: $180
Tim Katanski, Mike Ignasiak & Brian Stange
score 64, 8 under par
6th Place: $112.50
Charles Renfrow, AC Burks & Dennis Reynolds
score 65, 7 under par
With ALL tie-breakers being settled by on course payoff, starting on hole #9. The 3rd, 4th & 5th place teams that tied (after playing a long round on such a cold windy day), voted to pool the 3 places and split them equalling between the three teams. So, each team received a pay out of $270. The traditional handicap regression method was used to present them as 3rd, 4th & 5th places.
There was also a Skins game
with 14 teams entered totaling $420 which three teams split.
Anthony Hardin, Christian Rossi & Cameron Smith scored a birdie on # 3, par 3.
Tim Katanski, Mike Ignasiak & Brian Stange scored an eagle on # 10, par 5.
Todd Szalay, John Saffrin & Pete Harrison scored a birdie on # 16, par
