On July 26 & 27, the city of Taylor’s Golf Department hosted the city’s annual golf championship with the first round played at Taylor Meadows and the final round played at the Lakes of Taylor.  120 players competed for the top two spots in each of eight flights.

Congratulations to Verna Jasieniecki for her impressive 12 shot victory in the Women’s Flight, shooting a two day total score of 181.  Runner up of the same flight, was Myra Janabet with a respectable two-day score of 193.

In the  Senior First Flight, Vartan Mkrtumian lead his flight  with a 178,  a notable 11 stokes over runner up, Emerson Mowrer with 167.

Competition got a little tougher in the remaining flights, as each winner was decided on the final hole.  For the third time in four years, Mr. Ed Meredith held off the field with a two day total of 153 to win the Senior Championship Flight.  Daniel Gregg, 2006 Senior Champ, finished second with 154.

The Men’s Championship Flight was decided by a two-hole playoff.  Sean Habrotowski, 2005 Taylor City Champion, gave up a 6 stroke lead going into the final round and birdied the 18th hole to tie Paul Battistelli at 147.  THE round of the day was played by Battistelli who shot 71, one under par, during the final round.  Habrotowski proved to be too much to handle in what turned out to be a two hole play-off , making birdies on both holes to win the Championship Flight.
