The 3rd annual Par Three Shootout at Taylor Meadows took place on Sunday, April 19th. Once again the exciting event was a huge hit and sold out in just weeks!
Despite chilly temperatures and overcast skies, 63 two-person teams had a blast. With the course being specially converted to a par 54 layout, teams competed playing a two-person scramble. Players of all ages, genders, and skill levels participated, giving the tournament a friendly, yet competitive feel. For the 2nd consecutive year, a total score of 51 (3-under par) sat atop the scoreboard. This year, however, two teams finished at 3-under par, requiring a scorecard playoff to determine the eventual champions. And the winners of the 2009 Par Three Shootout were Paul Battistelli and Jim Garofalo! Paul and Jim also won the 1st ever Par Three Shootout in 2007 - Congratulations! Coming out on the losing end of the scorecard playoff, Steve Avery and his partner Matt Zavadil finished in 2nd place for the second straight year. Also determined by a scorecard playoff, Joe Race and Jim Robinson finished in 3rd place edging out 4th place winners Bobby Alanskas and Chris Bronis. Both teams shot an impressive 53 (1-under par).
